Travel plans have fallen in Ireland, with 28% of Irish adults planning to take at least one trip in the next three months, down from 34% a few months ago, according to Finder’s Travel Index.

18% of Irish adults plan to travel internationally in March, April, and May, compared to 22% of people who said they planned to travel internationally in the November survey – a drop of four percentage points.

The percentage of Irish adults with domestic travel plans has also fallen slightly from 15% to 14% in the most recent survey.

Finder’s head of consumer research, Graham Cooke, says it’s interesting to see the percentage of people with international travel plans fall, despite restrictions easing.

“In the past month, we’ve seen the Irish government ease restrictions on non-essential international travel, with people now able to travel with limited restrictions depending on their vaccination and booster status.

“However despite the new-found freedoms, we’ve seen a drop off in travel plans.

“This could be due to seasonal shifts as people are less likely to travel now than they were over the Christmas and New Year period.

“However it could also be that people are still hesitant to make travel plans – whether it’s a matter of cost, nerves around a potential new COVID-19 strain, or travel restrictions changing while they’re away.”

Finder’s Travel Index is an ongoing survey, which has so far gathered responses from over 250,000 people.
