Ukrainian passport holder charged over alleged €6 million ‘ghost broker’ motor insurance fraud self identifies as “Irish”

At this stage in human evolution of the left wing world, we are all too familiar with men self identifying as women, women self identifying as men and we even have humans self identifying as aliens (yes, this is a thing apparently).

Well this week we now have evidence that a Ukrainian passport holder, Mikhail Yegorov who has been living in Ireland since 2014 self identifies as “Irish”, reports The Irish Times.

The information was made public during a court case taking place where two businessmen and a female arts teacher have been charged over a €6 million “ghost broker” motor insurance policy fraud.

Alexander Afanaschenko (45), Mikhail Yegorov (38) and Elena Olenik (44) who all reside in West Dublin were remanded on bail after they appeared before Judge Gerard Jones at Blanchardstown District Court on Thursday.

Over 2,500 motor insurance policies, valued €6m, were identified as having been fraudulently obtained from 10 insurance companies, Judge Jones was told. Fraudulent documents were used get policies with beneficial premiums, it was alleged.

All three defendants will appear in court in July to be served with books of evidence and returned for trial.

Alexander Afanaschenko from Russia holds three passports including an Irish passport. There was no objection to bail with conditions. His free legal aid application has been deferred.

Mikhail Yegorov, from the Ukraine who self identifies as “Irish”. There was no objection to bail with conditions. His free legal aid application has been deferred.

Elena Olenik from Latvia and who is currently on the Pandemic Unemployment Payment was granted free legal aid.
