In addition to being found guilty last month of raping two young ladies in his cab on different nights in 2022, Raymond Shorten was also found guilty of raping a girl who was seven years old twelve years prior, reports RTE.
Shorten, 50, of Melrose Crescent in Clondalkin, Dublin, was found guilty of sexually abusing the youngster twice when he was around 38 years old.
Not long after the child’s mother passed away, the first rape occurred.
She was also about seven or eight years old at the time of the second rape, and the third occurrence featured a sexual assault in a car, reports RTE.
The crimes were discovered in 2020 when the girl wrote a handwritten note explaining what had transpired and put it on her grandmother’s pillow.
Shorten refuted the allegations.
He declared that the gardaà were “110% a lie”, reports RTE.
At the trial earlier this year, he entered a not guilty plea and testified in defence, refuting the accusations and claiming they were complete fabrications.
But a jury found him guilty on each of the three charges, reports RTE.
