Over the past few years the AIB have formed partnership with the GAA that has been a highly successful for both parties and with their sponsorship of both the All Ireland football and Hurling senior championships the proud sponsors have produced a number of top quality programmes that activity promotes Gaelic games throughout the country.
Following the success of their Toughest Trade series which has seen GAA stars Michael Murphy (Donegal footballer) and Lee Chin (Wexford Hurler) swap roles with Shane Williams (Welsh Rugby) and Alex Auld (Vancouver Canucts Ice Hockey) respectively, the proud sponsors have now begun their latest project that will see Gillette Soccer Saturday duo Jeff Stelling and Kris Kamara embark on a epic road trip across the emerald isle to learn all things GAA before they take on the mantle of commentating on the All Ireland football final in the third week of September.
The duo who have delighted soccer fans over the past two decades with their exuberant and colourful on screen antics have agreed to take part in the eight part mini series that will see them touring across the country from Kerry to Dublin to visit grassroots clubs to see what makes our game very special.
Although the series is in its second episode the pair who have a vast experience when it comes to soccer, have admitted they have a difficult challenge ahead as they have no clue when it comes GAA let alone the road to the Sam Maguire trophy.
In the exclusive video below both Jeff and Kammy visit a GAA club in Co Kerry were they meet commentating legend Micheal O’Muircheartaigh who gives them a few pointers about the game and how it is played whilst over looking an Under 15s football match.
The pair who seemingly enjoyed the chat with the commentating legend also try their hand at commentating on the match as they prepare to take on the exciting role of commentating in front of 80,000 people at Croker in just over a month’s time.
In what will surely be great entertainment we can’t help but wonder what would it be like if the legendary commentator Micheal O’Muircheartaigh picked up the microphone at the Lourdes or even the Old Trafford cricket ground.
