Undercover gardai in Louth say that they’ll walk dangerous areas this summer in an effort to stop women being attacked

Gardai in Drogheda, Co Louth say that they’ll be patrolling so-called dangerous areas of the town over the summer where a number of women in recent weeks have been attacked.

Various social media posts have shown women being randomly attacked while out walking, while another saw someone trying to get into car on the Bridge of Peace in the town.

Gardai say they’ll be walking the Ramparts area of the two out to Old Bridge dressed in civilian clothes, not in their uniform, in an effort to prevent these crimes from happening.

Many people in the town say that not enough is being down, that it shouldn’t just be patrolled in the summer and that in actuality, gardai wearing proper uniforms would be far more effective.
