Underperforming and extremely costly: Recent study reveals that Ireland spends more money on their health service than any other EU state

According to new study by the Central Statistics Office the Irish government spends significantly more money on their health service more than any other EU state.

The latest figures reveal that Ireland spent €18.4bn in maintaining the second worst health service in the EU for the year ending 2013. The above figure is 9.2% more than what other EU countries spent in the same year.

The news doesn’t make good reading for the Irish taxpayer as the numbers are much higher than previously thought, with many believing that the health service is severely underperforming and does not represent good value for money .
