Unemployment rate falls to its lowest since 2008 according to latest statistics by the CSO




According to latest figures published by the Central Statistics Office the number of people signing on the Live Register has to its lowest level since September 2008.

The new figures show that just over 7,300 (2.9%) signed off in August, bringing the overall total to 258,500.
 
It is understood there were almost 265,000 people signing on the Live Register at the end of July.

The latest figures have now shown that the rate of unemployment is down 51,762 or 16.4% on the same time last year.
