Union Jack used to boost “National Pride” by UK government who spent almost €200,000 on their nation flags in the past two years

In the past two years, the UK government has spent more than €192,000 (£163,000) on flying the Union Jack.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) spent the most on Union Jacks during 2020 and 2021.

Official figures show that the MoD has paid out £118,000 on flags since 2018 – but the DCMS spent £54,420.89 on them in the last year alone.
The Union Jack is being used by many political figures as a backdrop to their online meetings. The increase in the use of the nation flag is seen as a kickback to Europe and a way to build up national pride to bring the British community together.
