Hard luck: Dundalk’s Champions League dream is over after going out 3-1 on aggregate




Dundalk’s Champions League dream is over after they drew 1-1 with Legia Warsaw in Warsaw tonight.

Stephen Kenny’s men who were trailing 2-0 from last week had it all to do and gave it all tonight. The Lilywhites had the dream start as Robbie Benson scored a fantastic volley to give Dundalk a 1-0 lead.

Dundalk who were largely penned in, in their own half held on until the 91st minute when Legia broke on the counter attack and levelled the tie on the night and give them a 3-1 aggregate lead and overall victory . The League Of Ireland champions will now drop into the Europa League stages after an historic campaign.
