A man has appeared before the court facing charges in connection with the alleged sexual assault of two women at a nursing home in County Donegal, reports Breaking News.

The accused was brought before Letterkenny District Court and appeared in front of Judge Ciaran Liddy.

Detective Garda Bobby Carey provided testimony regarding the man’s arrest, the charges laid against him, and the formal caution, which took place at a location in Letterkenny earlier on Thursday, reports Breaking News.

Detective Carey stated that the accused offered no response when the charges were presented to him.

The man, whose identity cannot be revealed, is facing two separate charges of alleged sexual assault involving two individuals at the same nursing home but on different dates.

The first alleged assault is reported to have taken place sometime between December 1st and December 31st, 2022, reports Breaking News.

The second alleged incident occurred between December 1st, 2022, and May 4th, 2023, at the same location.

Both of the charges are in violation of Section 2 of the Criminal Law (Rape) (Amendment) Act 1990, as modified by Section 37 of the Sex Offenders Act, reports Breaking News.

Garda Sergeant Jim Collins informed the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions has ordered that the man be sent forward for trial on indictment at the Circuit Court.

The accused’s solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher, confirmed that Gardaí did not object to the granting of bail.

Judge Ciaran Liddy postponed the case until October 20th, at which point the book of evidence will be served on the defendant, reports Breaking News.
