A highly experienced midwife in the UK has spoken about how devastated she is that she will lose her job with the NHS as she does not want to take the Covid vaccine.

According to Sky New, Erika Thompson has been working as a midwife for over 20 years and is a much-admired and deeply respected health care worker. But her choice not to take the vaccine means that she is going to lose her job as the Government has decreed that all NHS workers must take the vaccine.

She has insisted that she is not an “anti-vaxxer” but that she should have the choice to decide whether or not she wants to take the vaccine.  Her stance means she will lose her job even though she has four children and a mortgage but she is fully supported by her husband and health care colleagues.

Mrs Thompson said that she is angry about the fact that so many efforts have been made to empower women to make their own decisions but now they are not allowed to make their decision on the vaccine.  Her own health history of myocarditis means she doesn’t want to take it and should not have to lose her job as a result.  She also says that she has had Covid and for that reason has antibodies from the virus, and that the women she works with are very happy for her to continue caring for them during their pregnancy.

The interview comes at a time when protests are taking place in the UK, demanding that the vaccine mandate be lifted as leaving it in place will mean that tens of thousands of health workers will be obliged to leave their jobs with the NHS, a system which is already under serious pressure.
