Around 10,000 hospital staff are engaging in industrial action across the country today, in protest against an alleged failure by the HSE to implement pay rises that were deemed to be warranted after a pay review.
The staff includes catering staff, porters, cleaners, and other support personnel.
Workers will remain on strike for 24h, with additional days of industrial action planned if the row is not resolved.
