11,000 Irish participants, 4,000 international and many funny characters took part in today’s Dublin City marathon.
Out of the 11,000 Irish runners, up to 150 were off duty gardai who ran the gruelling race in honour of their fallen comrade, Tony Golden.
Garda Golden was shot and killed on duty just over two weeks ago in a domestic incident in Omeath, County Louth.
The race started at 8:55am in Merrion Square, and was run for Ethiopia’s Alemu Gemechu who won the race in two hours fourteen minutes.
