Up to 1,800 people are facing immediate unemployment following the sale of the Oasis and Warehouse brands to Hilco Capital, former owner of HMV.
Hilco has purchased the brands and the remaining stock, but not the stores themselves, which face immediate closure.
This is but the latest in a long string of high-profile store closures in the high street. Debenhams recently announced that it had gone into liquidation, leading to the loss of up to 2,000 jobs here in Ireland.
