NASA has launched a spacecraft that’s on a mission to get very close to the Sun for exploration and analysis.
The spacecraft will endure extreme heat while flying through the solar corona to study the Sun’s outer atmosphere that gives riseto the solar winds.
The Parker Solar Probe launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida at about 3:30am Sunday morning Irish time and is said to be size of a small car.
It’s understood that its mission will take 7 years in total and is at a cost of $1.5 billion.
NASA hopes that its findings will help scientists forecast changes in Earth’s space environment.
