A total of 4 people have been seriously injured after a woman opened fire at YouTube headquarters shortly after 9pm Irish time tonight.

YouTube workers ran for their lives as an active shooter was heard letting off shots at their offices in San Bruno, California shortly after 9pm Irish time.

Police are still at the scene where at least 4 people were shot according to various reports coming out of the U.S. It’s understood that the shooter was a woman and shot herself before police got to her.

Vladim Lavrusik, a product manager at the company, tweeted that there is an active shooter on campus.

Todd Sherman, another product manager, said he was in a meeting when he “heard people running because it was rumbling the floor”.

He posted: “First thought was earthquake. After existing the room we still didn’t know what was going on but more people were running.

“Seemed serious and not like a drill. We headed towards the exit and then saw more people and someone said that there was a person with a gun.”

Police have released the following statement but no details as to who has been shot or why:

“We did locate a victim with what we believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. It’s a female,” San Bruno PolicecChief Ed Barberini said at a news conference.
