A security guard working at a McDonald’s restaurant in London threw cold water and “bleach” on a homeless Irishman who was sleeping outside a neighbouring restaurant, reports The Mirror.

Footage of the incident has gone viral on social media and shows a security guard soaking a homeless man and his belongings and then mopping the floor where he was sleeping.

The homeless man was Aaron McCarthy, 25, from Limerick, who was believed to have lived in the UK since childhood, reports The Mirror.

The incident took place on London’s Victoria Street and outraged pedestrians doing their Christmas shopping. The video was shared by homeless charity Street’s Kitchen, which tagged McDonald’s on social media.

“Do you think it is acceptable for your staff to soak the sleeping bags of homeless people in the middle of winter (or any other time of year)? Disgusting behaviour. He wasn’t even outside your premises,” it wrote, reports The Mirror.
