There’s been absolute uproar after the emergence of Amazon staff actively listening to customer conversations via its Alexa device.
Alexa is like Ok Google, answering your questions and “helping” you by telling you answers that it has either stored, reads from its own data or searches the web for.
According to the official spiel, the recordings “were used to help improve the Echo device’s understanding of human speech.”
It was also revealed that some of the recordings were actually shared through social media.
Amazon have issued a statement saying “We have strict technical safeguards and a zero-tolerance policy for the abuse of our system.”
More than 100m Alexa devices have so far been bought worldwide.
