UK residents have been accused of comepletely ignoring all lockdown restrictions during the sunny day on Saturday, with the police and coastguard heavily criticising those who failed to observe guidelines.
HM Coastguard reported that it had the highest number of call-outs since the lockdown began with some 97 incidents more than a 50% increase compared with April’s daily average.
Elsewhere in London, police said that they were struggling to stop people gathering in parks during the fine weather and that hundreds of people were drinking beer and eating pizza in a number of parks around the city.
#OpPIMA and sadly we’re fighting a losing battle in the parks today. Literally hundreds of people sitting having pizza, beers, wines. As always a big thank you to those that are observing the guidelines #StayHomeSaveLives #ProtectOurNHS #lockdownuk pic.twitter.com/U2eFTKTDGJ
