The crew of a Boeing KC-135 air-to-air refueling aircraft declared an emergency at around 11am this morning, after reporting a problem with the plane’s hydraulic system.

The aircraft landed safely at Shannon Airport just before 12:30 today. As many as 30 emergency vehicles were standing by just in case.

The runway was blocked for about 30 minutes while the aircraft was towed away, and it finally reopened at 1pm.
