The Government have agreed to added a number of countries including the US, Canada, France and Italy to the mandatory quarantine list.
In an announcement the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly said the decision was made in the interests of public health and Ireland’s vaccination programme.
It is believed that the decision to add the countries to the list came after the Cabinet met on Friday evening.
Donnelly said that the Government and health officials are concerned about a number of variants that pose a potential risk.
The full list of countries include: Bangladesh, Belgium, France, Italy, Kenya, Luxembourg, Pakistan, Turkey, the USA, Canada, Armenia, Bermuda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Curaçao, Maldives, Ukraine.
Meanwhile at the same meeting the Cabinet agreed to remove Albania, Israel and Saint Lucia from the list.
