The deployment of nearly 3,000 American troops has been approved by US President Joe Biden and they will now travel to eastern Europe over the next few days.
According to RTE, the deployment is being taken as a sign that the US will defend its NATO allies. In giving the details, Pentagon spokesperson said that it was a possibility that more troops could be sent out and that it is important that the world sees that America is ready to act if necessary.
The move comes as concern continues over the possibility that Russia will invade Ukraine, something which could trigger a war involving several countries.
Many social media users expressed concern that Joe Biden could be in charge of the US during a war, particularly as there have been several instances that have caused his mental and physical health to be questioned.
