There’s been a mixed reaction to RTE releasing eye watering salary figures for their top earners.
Some people say they deserve it while others say the figures are unjustified and that the taxpayer are forced to pay for these people whether they like it or not through the TV licence fee.
22 RTE employees are paid between €150,001 – €250,000 a year, with 271 employees being paid between €80,000 – €150,000
RTE have released salary figures for its employees and it’s eye watering!
RTÉ revealed that 22 RTE employees were paid between €150,001 – €250,000 a year, with 271 employees paid between €80,000 – €150,000.
With 1,866 employees, more than half earned €60,000 or less, with the average salary €60,753 reports the Irish Examiner.
Top presenters like Joe Duffy are classed as a self employed contractor within RTE.
In 2019, Joe Duffy, earned €392,494 and says he turned down a much greater salary from Newstalk because he believed in RTE.
Presenters Ryan Tubridy, on €495,000, and Ray D’Arcy, on €450,000 earn more than Duffy.
