The Queen and other members of the British royal family are expected to lead the commemorative celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the British forces victory over Japan.
A series of events will take place around London and elsewhere, in remembrance of the sacrifices made by British soldiers who fought and died fighting against the Japanese army.
There will also be a significant security operation in place, as information leaked out about extremist bomb threats.
Buckingham Palace has refused to comment on the reported threat, with a spokeswoman saying they did not comment on security matters.
