Passports for vaccines in nightclubs and other covered venues in England will be required by the end of this month, the Vaccines Minister confirmed.
Nadhim Zahawi said that now is the right time to start the high-traffic spot program as everyone over the age of 18 is offered two hits.
The request for people to provide certificates with proof of vaccination against Covid has been criticised by some places and some parliamentarians.
According to the BBC, Zahawi said this would ensure the economy can stay open.
“The best way we can keep those industries open in my view, in our view, is to work with the industry,” he told the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show.
The vaccines minister said: “One thing that we have learnt is that in large gatherings of people, especially indoors, the virus tends to spike and spread.”
