Her late mother was a “gem” of a lady who had “a smile for everyone who crossed her path,” according to the daughter of a 36-yr-old woman who passed away after being attacked by up to three individuals as she was leaving a soup kitchen in Cork city centre, reports Breaking News.
On December 1st of last year, Vanessa O’Callaghan, a mother of three, was attacked in Patrick Street after receiving a sleeping bag and some food from a volunteer from the Kindness Krew.
Before paramedics arrived, one of the Krew volunteers, Roslyn Barrett, hurried to her aid and started CPR. However, on December 4th of last year, the native of Cork’s Middle Parish passed away at Cork University Hospital (CUH), reports Breaking News.
Vanessa’s funeral liturgy was held at St. Peter and Paul’s Church in Cork on Tuesday at 10 a.m, reports Breaking News.
At the altar were floral tributes bearing the phrases “sister,” “mam,” and “aunt.” The opening prayer was said by Bishop Emeritus John Buckley, and the deceased’s children covered her coffin with the shroud.
Chelsea, Vanessa’s only child, informed everyone in the crowded chapel that she valued their attendance more than words could convey.
“It is a comfort to see so many familiar faces, friends, family and loved ones all gathered here to honour and celebrate the incredible woman my mother was,” reports Breaking News.
According to Chelsea, her mother was one of the few individuals who seemed to exude happiness throughout her life.
“She was so full of life and she had a smile for everyone who crossed her path,” reports Breaking News.
