Varadkar: “Banks should apologise and offer adequate compensation to customers wrongfully switched off their tracker mortgage”




The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has issued a stark warning to the county’s banks saying they should apologise to everyone who was wrongfully taken off their tracker mortgage

According to RTE News the Taoiseach made his comments during a recent meeting with his Cabinet at the University College Cork.

It is understood Mr Varadkar also advised the banks to refund customers their money along with the adequate amount of compensation.

Mr Varadkar also said as far as he is concerned, the deadline for the apology was Thursday.

The Taoiseach’s comments come in a week were customers who were wrongfully switched off their tracker mortgage by banks such as Permanent TSB and Ulster Bank, appeared before an Oireachtas Finance Committee.
