The Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar has said his department will deal “promptly” with redundancy payments for staff who were employed by HMV.
Mr Varadkar’s promise comes after staff at four HMV stores that closed in Dublin and Limerick earlier this year have not received any redundancy payments.
In a statement, Mr Varadkar said: “Employees who lose their jobs because of company liquidation are entitled to “statutory redundancy payments and to wage related payments due at the time of the liquidation.”
The review of redundancy payments comes after the company went into liquidation earlier this month.
