Varadkar: I share Tony Holohan’s shock and concern over Irish public’s behaviour in the sunshine

The Tanaiste didn’t hold back his concerns with the Irish public enjoying the sunshine over the weekend. Leo Varadkar shares the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan’s concerns over the public’s behaviour over the past two days.

Varadkar said that regardless of reopening, people must adhere to the guidelines, which include social distancing.

He said that local lockdowns may be looked at if people don’t comply.

Varadkar’s concerns follow Holohan appearing to angrily slam scenes of drinking and partying in Dublin’s city centre on Saturday night, saying he was “shocked” by what he saw when he drove through at 8:15pm.

Holohan said: “Drove into Dublin City Centre to collect someone from work at 815 PM. Absolutely shocked at scenes in South Great George’s St, Exchequer St, South William St area.

“Enormous crowds- like a major open air party. This is what we do not need when we have made so much progress.”

What do you think? Are their concerns justified?
