The Minister for Health Leo Varadkar has said he is extremely disappointed at whoever leaked an important email to the media regarding the current emergency department over crowding crisis.

Mr Vardakar made his comments after he fully denied any responsibility regarding the leak, the Health Minister also said “heads will have to roll” over the sensitive issue.  The news comes as the leader of the Fianna Fáil party Micheál Martin claimed that Mr Varadkar  leaked the memo to The Irish Times.

Mr Martin claims that Mr Varadkar has been in charge of the current failure within health service which is heavily overcrowded, and believes the Health Minister is now trying to pass the blame.

However Minister Varadkar has strongly denied Mr Martin’s claims saying he wasn’t behind the leak, Mr Varadkar told reporters: “Well, like – I didn’t. Yesterday I wanted the news to be about the €3bn investment that is going to happen over the next six years.”

“Whoever leaked that email obviously did not have my interests at heart, but you know it is pretty evident that (Irish Times reporter) Martin Wall has a very good source somewhere in health and I’m sure you guys can ask him where he got it from. I’d love to know myself.”
