Varadkar: “I would welcome the chance to lead the Fine Gael party in the future”

The Minister for Health Leo Varadkar has revealed in a recent interview that he would welcome a chance to lead the Fine Gael party in the future.

Mr Varadkar made his comments recently whilst speaking on RTE radio, the health minister said he jump at the chance to lead the party in the future if his fellow party members wished him to do so. However Mr Varadkar said for time being he is happy in his current role and is “totally engrossed” in his work at the Department of Health. Mr Varadkar said: “I’m busy I have my hands full at the moment. There is no point in thinking about that … you could spend your life thinking about those types of things.”

Meanwhile Mr Varadkar has seemingly given his full support to current party leader Enda Kenny, saying he hoped that Mr Kenny would be re-elected as Taoiseach in the next general election.
