Interviewed on last night’s PrimeTime, the Tanaiste Leo Varadkar was speaking from his bunker, where he’s been holed up over the past 7 days due to testing positive for covid.
Varadkar was pushed on whether the government was going to reintroduce draconian restrictions once again on the Irish public, but it appears as though no restrictions are going to be re-imposed.
The Tanaiste said that the current covid surge appears to have peaked and is on a decline but it cannot be confirmed until next week. He said that it’s not appropriate to reintroduce restrictions.
It’s understood that a new version of NPHET is said to be in the works over the coming weeks.
