Varadkar says that lifting coronavirus lockdown restrictions will be very slow and could take months

It appears as though Ireland has finally turned a corner in its fight against a widespread coronavirus outbreak in Ireland, but things may take quite some time before they go back to normal.

What’s going to happen in a couple of weeks, no one knows but judging by Leo Varadkar and indeed Dr Tony Holohan’s comments on Friday night’s Late Late Show – it would appear that May 5th could well be extended past that date for removing lockdown restrictions.

It’s looking more and more likely that the ‘due date’ of May 5th seeing current coronavirus lockdown restrictions lifted almost certainly not going to happen.

Caretaker Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said that lifting current Covid-19 restrictions ‘could take months.’

The Taoiseach made the remarks during a Dáil session earlier today.

Lockdown conditions were recently extended until May 5, but Mr. Varadkar’s comments appear to imply that the lockdown status might remain in place for much longer than that.
