Vardakar reveals the Government will merge USC and PRSI in order to assist middle income earners

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has confirmed today that the Government will reward middle income earners over the coming years ahead.

Mr Varadkar who also outlined a number of plans for the upcoming Budget, said middle income earners who currently pay extraordinary taxes will reap the rewards once the Government fulfill its objectives over the coming years.

Under the new plans the Taoiseach said that tax bracket for middle income earners will change as the state have decided to merge both the USC and PRSI into one single tax entity.

However Mr Varadkar said the proposed changes would take a number of years and Budgets to complete

He added middle income earners who currently pay the highest rates of tax would have to fork out less in the long run.

The Taosieach’s comments come after the Minister for Finance Paschal O’Donohoe recently discussed the possibility of reducing the tax bracket for middle income earners.
