The Vatican City has confirmed that its first case of the Covid 19 virus and the world’s smallest sovereign state has closed its healthcare services offices for disinfection as a result.
Matteo Bruni, Director of the Holy See Press Office, told reporters on Friday morning that the Vatican’s healthcare services have been temporarily shuttered to disinfect facilities used for outpatient services, but the emergency department remains open.
The Vatican Apostolic Library, which welcomes scholars from around the world to consult on and study the Roman Catholic Church’s manuscripts and archives said it would keep its doors shut all next week as a precaution.
The tiny country surrounded by Rome is home to the Pope, who is currently recovering from a cold, and just around 800 others but is visited by around five million tourists and pilgrims per year. virus,
