Vatican closes health offices and library in response to coronavirus as it records its first case of Covid-19




The Vatican City has confirmed that its first case of the Covid 19 virus and the world’s smallest sovereign state has closed its healthcare services offices for disinfection as a result.

Matteo Bruni, Director of the Holy See Press Office, told reporters on Friday morning that the Vatican’s healthcare services have been temporarily shuttered to disinfect facilities used for outpatient services, but the emergency department remains open.

The Vatican Apostolic Library, which welcomes scholars from around the world to consult on and study the Roman Catholic Church’s manuscripts and archives said it would keep its doors shut all next week as a precaution.
