The Army bomb disposal team carried out a controlled explosion on a device found in Cork city earlier today. The item was found outside a house in Knocknaheeney, just after 10am this morning.
A number of houses in the area were evacuated.
The device was made safe and removed to a military location for further testing.
This is the second explosive found in the same area in two days.
