The centre of Navan was in complete lock-down last night to allow Enda Kenny to attend a local Fine Gael function at the New Grange Hotel.
After the events the previous night in Sligo the Gardai in Navan decided to take no chances and in major security undertaking closed all the town centre streets surrounding the hotel.
In the end the beleaguered Taoiseach was taken in through a rubbish chute/bin door on a side street at the back of the hotel.
One resident said:
“Why didn’t they take him into the Gardai Barracks by helicopter where they have the security in place already, not this rubbish”
