Video: Watch as Bressie bravely tells the Oireachtas Health Committee to ‘park their egos’ and admit that the states mental health services are not adequate

He maybe best known for his touching lyrics but Niall Breslin (Bressie) has seemingly used his talented voice for a different agenda this time around after he bravely told the country’s leading politicians to “park their egos” and openly admit that the states mental health services are not even close to being adequate.

The singer who recently revealed details about his own battle with mental health issues has urged the Government to properly address the situation of the lack of joined-up services. An emotional and outspoken Bressie told members of the Oireachtas Health Committee: “In order for us to progress in this regard, everyone in this room has to be painfully honest with each other and accept that our mental health services and systems are not even close to being adequate or resourced for the demand and requirement that is put upon them.”

The singer went onto say: “This is not a blame game or headhunt, but in order for us to build an effective long term strategy we have to park the egos, politics and economics and put human beings first.” “We have some incredibly gifted people in this country when it comes to education, mental health and psychology, so it’s a matter of joining the dots and building something together that can give our youth the support they require to survive in this often chaotic world.”

Since his brave and emotional speech the singer has received great praise for his actions, with many saying he showed tremendous courage in telling the government the truth. Bressie’s resounding speech has since been posted online with it becoming a viral hit with many sharing it in support of the singer’s words over the past few days.
