A baby dolphin was rescued from certain death after a kind watersports instructor saw the distressed sea animal and came to its aid.
Tour guide Naude Dreyer of Pelican Point Kayaking in Namibia initially had little hope that the young Benguela dolphin would survive its ordeal but he did what he could to help him on his way.
Dreyer said that he saw the baby dolphin lying on the beach and rushed to try to help it in a post on Facebook.
He said:
“After a quick assessment and measurements, I attempted to get him swimming again.
I was not very hopeful, but as soon as he got into water and realized where he was he took off like a bullet. Nice.
I’ll do a drive past the same area again later just to make sure he hasn’t returned again.”
He little dolphin seemed quite happy with his rescue and even managed a backflip to say thanks.
