Violent clashes at a ‘Kill the Bill’ protest in Bristol today left several police officers badly injured.
A number of officers were taken to hospital with suspected broken arms and ribs following outbreaks of violence near Bristol city centre. Protesters had gathered to show their opposition to an upcoming bill granting police more powers to tackle non-violent protest. People see this as a step closer to a ‘police state.’
The march turned violent as night fell, with protesters shouting abuse at police and damaging property.
A number of people were arrested at the event.
