Violent scenes outside Tipperary hotel earmarked to house asylum seekers

There were violent scenes today outside a Tipperary hotel earmarked to house asylum seekers.

Up to 160 asylum seekers will be housed at the Racket Hall Hotel in the town of Roscrea.

About 200 people gathered outside the premises today in an attempt to block access to inbound buses ferrying the refugees.

At least one person was arrested after violent clashes developed between the two groups.
