A video of the alleged incident circulated on social media last week, though the assault reportedly took place on Thursday, 16 October 2025, as the boy was walking home from school, reports The Mirror.
The footage, described as graphic, shows the boy, who is part of the Bangladeshi community, pressed against a wall while two male youths repeatedly slap him across the face and tell him to stop defending himself.

The child can be heard pleading with his attackers to leave him alone, at one point saying he is “sorry,” reports The Mirror.
In the clip, one of the youths offers the boy a choice ā “it’s either a slap or me and you box (fight).” The youngster begs, “please don’t hurt (me),” but is told to “stop crying.” One of the attackers then punches him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground in tears before the video cuts off.
Galway TD Hildegarde Naughton said: āItās just awful. Iāve seen the video myself and itās shocking stuff,ā reports The Mirror.
