Vodafone Ireland is offering 10 extra days of paid holiday and flexible working opportunities for staff who care for a vulnerable person, not just family members, reports RTE.

The company said the 10-day vacation covers everything from hospital appointments to therapy sessions.

Other support offers include flexible start and end times and hybrid operation.

“When I see the research that half of carers feel they are being held back from promotion and that by 2030, one in five in Ireland will have a caring role outside of work, I can see that more awareness and workplace supports are needed for this valuable group of people,” said Noelle Burke, HR Director at Vodafone Ireland, reports RTE.

Last week, Bank of Ireland announced a new partnership with Family Carers Ireland to provide support and resources for employees with caring responsibilities at home.

The bank said around 14% of its 9,000 employees have a caring role.

Information, tools and support will be provided to employees as part of the partnership.

Managers are also provided with guidance and training to assist their staff with parenting and nurturing responsibilities, reports RTE.
