Wallace: ‘I would like to become the state’s first ever minister for housing’

The ever controversial and outspoken Independent TD Mick Wallace has recently revealed that he would like to become the country’s first ever Minister for housing if the job should become available.

According to recent reports the Wexford native revealed that he would be very interested in the new role should it be created but only under he right conditions and circumstances. Mr Wallace said he would not work with any ‘neo-liberal grouping’ but is open to conversation with any party or Independent including his collegue Clare Daly.

Mr Wallace told reporters: “It would be an absolute dream for me (to become Minister for Housing), but could I work with a neo-liberal grouping?” asked Wallace rhetorically. “I’m sorry but I couldn’t. I think I would have to take responsibility and walk from politics before I could work with a neo-liberal grouping.”

Before he jokingly stating, “I’ll talk to any scumbag.”

Mr Wallace’s announcement comes after a number of recent calls from homeless advocacy groups nationwide urging the government to install a dedicated Minister for Housing.
