Certain sections of Tallaght Hospital remain under restricted conditions following an outbreak of an “aggressive” vomiting bug.

This outbreak of norovirus (winter vomiting bug) was described by a staff member as “very aggressive” and has led to two wards of the National Children’s Hospital being restricted.

Tallaght Hospital have issued a statement to say that there are still some active cases of norovirus within the hospital, and ask that no more than two people visit a patient at any time. Visitors are asked to contact the relevant Ward’s before planning their visit.

In addition to these guidelines, children are not allowed to visit the hospital without the express permission of the Clinical Nurse Manager in charge and all visitors must adhere to proper hand washing procedures to ensure the bug does not spread.
