The newborn abandoned on a Dublin road earlier this year has spent her first Christmas with her foster family.
Named “Baby Maria” by hospital staff at the time, she is said to be thriving in her new environment.
She was found back in May, when she was barely one day old. The umbilical cord was still attached to her body.
Despite numerous efforts to find her biological mother, this person was never located.
New legislation now in place allow for Baby Maria to be adopted in three years’ time. She is likely to remain in foster care until such time.
