Warning issued as cannabis sweets are being sold online

Gardai and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland have issued a warning a teenager was hospitalised after ingesting so called cannabis sweets which were sold online.

The warning comes after the teenager ingested the sweets and suffered adverse reactions and was subsequently hospitalised.

The Food Safety Authority say the sweets contain psychotropic cannabis component tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

It is believed that the warning also comes after Gardai and revenue officials seized batches of the sweets.

Under Irish law the THC is a controlled substance and the Food Safety Authority warns that it shouldn’t be added to any food substances.
