According to an HSE update on X, they are resulting in medical crises, such as fits.
Concerned about the increase in synthetic substances in Ireland, gardaà warned festivalgoers ahead of Electric Picnic about the risks associated with using illicit narcotics, reports RTE.
Ireland’s largest annual music and arts festival takes place in Stradbally, Co Laois, and draws about 75,000 attendees.
All of the medical tents at Electric Picnic are “safe spaces,” according to Nicki Killeen of the HSE’s Harm Reduction Safer Nightlife program, and there are no consequences for anybody who seeks assistance after using drugs.
She stated they had observed “multiple samples” of MDMA yesterday that were stronger than usual in an interview with RTÉ’s 2FM, reports RTE.
It’s possible that one MDMA tablet contains “too much MDMA for one person” these days due to changes in the drug market, according to Ms. Killeen.
The main takeaway from the HSE, according to Ms. Killeen, is that although it is best to abstain from drug use entirely, those who do use drugs should think about the HSE’s harm reduction measures and get treatment if they are worried, reports RTE.
