Locals have identified the young lady who perished in an early-morning collision outside the town of Wexford, reports The Mirror.

On Tuesday morning, 23-year-old Kate Wibbe departed from her family’s residence at Our Lady’s Island in order to go to work in Cork. Kate, a University College Cork alumna, started working as a regulatory affairs analyst for PepsiCo in Cork a month ago.

Tragedy happened when the young woman was travelling down the N25, past Larkin’s Cross and the Pikeman Statue. Her automobile, a van, and a truck were engaged in a three-vehicle incident at around 6.30 a.m, reports The Mirror.

Kate was sadly pronounced dead at the site, and two other persons, including the van’s 40-year-old driver, were brought to the hospital. Her corpse was brought to University Hospital Waterford so that a postmortem could be performed.

Normally a charming and serene location, Our Lady’s Island was enveloped in darkness when the grieving family of Ms. Wibbe received the news. Her distraught parents, Fiona and Christian, as well as her brother, Daniel, survive her.

“They are just in an utter state of shock. “I don’t know the family personally, but it’s such a devastating blow for them. I called down to the house for a few minutes to offer my condolences and any assistance,” local parish priest Fr. Jim Cogley said, reports The Mirror.
