Warning to holidaymakers, as extreme heat in southern Europe sparks health warnings

You may feel like a bit of sun these days, but beware of extreme temperatures raging across southern Europe.

The thermometer has reached a scorching 47C in some parts of southern Spain, with temperatures in the high 40s registered in Italy, Poland, Albania, and other areas around the Mediterranean Sea.

The culprit of this heatwave is a mass of hot air blowing from Africa.

The extreme heat is expected to last until Monday at least, so take due precautions if you are travelling to any of these destinations.
